Facilities Evaluation Team

Purpose of this Team

Superintendent, Winston Brooks, has asked each school to evaluate their current facilities and make a prioritized list of needs. To that end, the Northwest administration has assembled a team of staff, parents, and community members to study the Northwest facilities and generate this list of needs. The team membership is:

Business: Linn Harris and Brian Hudson

Parents: Debbie Calvert, Sheryl Anderson, Rhea Lyman, Mark Stanberry, Deb Hammond, Mary Cook, Kris Heithaus, and Dale Johnston

Students: Alicia Fullilove, Brandon Clayton, and Nathan Ehresman

Northwest Staff: J. Means; Arthur Shook, Merri Copeland, Connie Dirks, Bryan Jones, Chari Sowers, Doug Taylor, Jeanne Vance, and Jim McNiece

Community: Don Dome

Second Planning Meeting -- October 10, 2007

The team met in the library at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, October 10 to create a master list of suggestions for facility improvements at Northwest. These recommendations were grouped as follows:

2006 Recommendations -- includes classrooms, indoor athletic facilities, and outdoor athletic facilities
Infrasctructure -- includes air conditioning, roofing, office remodel, ADA issues, storage, flooring, etc.
Tech Ed Department -- includes classrooms, office, storage, ADA, etc.
Special Education Department -- includes program specific requirements, ADA compliance, offices, meeting rooms, etc.
Parking -- for all facilities and a new entrance
Fine Arts Department -- includes expansion of band and drama facilities, small theater, production arts and gallery, acoustics, etc.
General classroom needs -- includes 20 additional classrooms and remodeling/upgrading of several areas
