Monitoring Grades/Parent Assist

Parent Assist is an online tool to help parents monitor their students’ academic progress in classes. Please check it regularly. It is a good way to identify missing assignments, low scores or problems with the student’s progress. It is also a good way to praise your student for a job well done when you see positive progress being made in a class. If you have questions about your student’s grades, progress, or concerns regarding a class, you can contact the teacher by e-mail or phone. Remember tutoring help is available during excel. If you need your password reset, please call Mrs. Stillwell at 973 6009.

ACT

Juniors planning to go to college next year need to take the ACT at least twice their junior year. You may register online at www.actstudent.org. You must have a credit card to register online and use the Northwest school code 173214. Students on free or reduced lunch can take the ACT free two times. See Mrs. Tibbetts for a fee waiver.

ACT PREP WORKSHOPS AT NORTHWEST

The College Career Center will offer ACT Prep Workshops. You must sign up with Mrs. Cramer in A26 if you are interested.

HOMEWORK HELP

Below is a great resource to connect Kansas students to one-on-one tutoring service with live tutors. Students can connect with tutors from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. seven days a week. HomeworkKansas is also available in Spanish, Sunday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. till midnight.

NCAA CLEARINGHOUSE

Athletes hoping to be recruited for Division 1 or Division 2 athletics must register with the NCAA Clearinghouse. The NCAA requires students to take specific core classes in high school and to have their ACT scores sent directly to the Clearinghouse. Register for the ACT at www.actstudent.org and send scores to the NCAA Clearinghouse using code: 9999. All interested students should register at www.eligibilitycenter.org and see Mrs. Tibbetts for specific details.

COLLEGE VISITS

Juniors and seniors are allowed TWO school-related college visits per year on the condition they meet the following criteria: 1. Inform attendance of the impending visit.

2. Bring a business card of the person they visited with within THREE school days to Mrs. Adams. If these two conditions are met, the absence will be considered excused and school-related.

COLLEGE REPS. VISIT DURING ADVOCACY

Various representatives for colleges, technical schools and military will be scheduled to visit with NW students on Tuesdays and Thursdays during Advocacy. Visiting organizations will be listed on the CCC website.
